5 Every kitchen needs one
June 9, 2007

Perfect size. Not too heavy. Reversible, too. One side is only for raw flesh. The other for everything else.

Don't forget to only clean w/ Kosher soap. We also spritz the meat side after use w/ a mixture of 1 tblspn bleach and 1 qt water, to sanitize. The best sanitizer is sunlight. Ours drys out under big kitch window.

We cook a lot & really like having a quality cutting surface that stays on the counter. It seems to be in constant use.

5 WOW! What a great deal!!!

For anyone who does any cooking this is a MUST have! From the weight to the sturdiness this board is fabulous. I love the thickness b/c I can slide the ingredients right onto either a pan or a serving plate. And the SIZE!!! I have no problem cutting numerous items without having to worry about the space. Go ahead and get the oil care kit. The added conditioning will ONLY help!

5 Hardwood Cutting Board by John Boos & Co.

Wonderful addition to our gourmet kitchen. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my husband and he loves it. Sure beats watching him make sandwiches on a dish towel. Also it adds extra space to put something hot on as we have solid surface countertops. Love it, love it, love it.

5 Daughter very happy!
January 7, 2007
By Sylvia, TX
I ONLY bought this for my daughter, who is the COOK and not for myself. She had asked for a large wooden cutting board since last Christmas and I wasn't able to get it for her in time. So naturally I remembered this year and I started looking earlier. I know she wanted this SIZE cutting board and a wooden one....and I GUESS SHE SHOULD KNOW about the VALUE for the PRICE....but as for me, I thought it was a bit expensive since I had to pay for it....but then again....I am NOT the cook. :) I had never paid this much for a cutting board before...but I guess since she was very happy with it, it must have been worth it. I gave my other daughter, who is beginning to cook and take lessons cooking...another large but thinner wooden cutting board from a local store.....and I think she was really impressed with her sister's! HA
I hope my daughter won't have to PICK it up too much because that board was VERY HEAVY!! I won't yet know the reviews on the product though, until she really starts to use it. But, I will answer the questions as thou it was my daughter, who by the way is only 26 and works as a cook and has been for a long time.
Thank you so much....a satisfied customer....the mother.

4 Make sure it isn't damaged!
January 7, 2007
By Robert, MA
The first one came, but was obviously damaged at a warehouse. Jammed into a metal shelf is my guess, and not inspected before shipping.
Cooking.Com was very good about quickly sending a replacement. Kudos on that.

The replacement had a box that DHL almost completely trashed, and while I did notice a small ding in the wood, it was not as bad as the first one which arrived with a nearly pristine box (and the one I had to use for the prepaid return).

I think they need to package this better, possibly the manufacturer, with more than a shrink-wrap cover. This is a heavy block, so small wonder it gets dinged without some sturdier cardboard corners or other protective packaging.

If you have a McMansion kitchen, this would be a good one, but be prepared for the above. And it IS an inch and a half so add that to your counter top for your own ergonomics. This was a gift, so I'm not the end user.

Grins,

assumed (incorrectly) that reversible meant that it was smooth on one side and gooved on the other for carving roasts. It was not - it was smooth on both sides. And it cost nearly $30 to mail it back!!!

I wanted an extra large wooden surface for preparing cut out cookies with my granddaughters. This fits the bill and Boos is, of course, the best. It is too heavy for me to move but that is taken care of for me and I also use it when chopping, etc., for the meals I prepare when family gathers for merry mayhem. We are a military family with garnered tastes from around the world and Cooking.com has been a good source for my shopping. Thanks.

This is the perfect size cutting board. It's heavy & doesn't move, but you can cut lots of vegs and not have to move them to do the next. Good price when you compare them! Easy on the knives.

Huge and heavy! This thing is massive. But worth it completely for the sturdiness and extra working space. If you want to slide your food from your board off into your hand like Rachael Ray does, consider the 2" or so, taller one. The height of this one suffices, however, and serves its purpose well.

Boo's products speak for themselfs and for good reason, its simply the best.

Cooking.com. is also the best and the reason is also simple- reasonable prices and strong customer followup.

As far as the board is concerned for me its the perfect size, two side for meat and veggies and handles to turn over and to assist in cleaning. Thats it my friend.

My two requirements for a cutting board were that it have a trough to catch runoff and that it have legs to slightly elevate it. This board has neither, but it's turned out to be what I really needed all along. It is large, as other reviewers have stated, but because the surface is so spacious, I can live without a trough. And now I can't even remember why I thought I needed one with legs! I highly recommend this cutting board, especially for those who are serious about cooking.
