I had a similar tool a long time ago,but gave it away. I wanted to get another, but was frustrated as the only ones I could find were the kind to be attached to the counters. My counters are too thick. Couldn't believe it when I saw a review for this tool in Cook's Illustrated, and found you also had the suction kind. Ordered it right away, got it fairly quickly and made a delicious apple crisp that day. I love it!

Took me a while to figure out how to use it and to get it adjusted, but I got it working and peeled my apples with it. Heavy and well built.

5 An Apple Dish a Day
April 29, 2012
By Dawn-Marie, CA
I really, really like this product. All settings are adjustable, and it peels, cores and slices easily. It took a few minutes (and two apples) to determine exactly how I wanted the settings, then I whpped out the rest of the apples for my crisp with ease. I had one for almost 20 years, and it finally gave up the ghost, and the new one I just bought is a must-have for anyone who likes to cook dishes with apples. It is also very handy for peeling potatoes for a big, comforting batch of mashed potatoes. GET ONE, NOW!

5 Apple Corer and Peeler
January 7, 2012
By marc, VT
I was so happy to see this product offered by Food Network! I own a Back to Basics Peeler I got years ago from a different retailer. That company doesn't carry it anymore and I wanted to give it as a gift for Christmas. I bought others from kitchen stores in my area but they were all inferior to what I owned. Very poor metals and components. I ordered this one from Food Network not knowing exactly how it compared to what I have. To my delight, it was exactly what I have! Wow! It made my holiday. To be able to give a gift such as this, with a great value and super quality, was IT for me! I'm happy:)

This product worked well only on apples that were completely round (like granny smith) it did not work efficiently on red delicious where the apple contours. I returned the product.

2 Bad Experience
November 30, 2011
By KAREN, FL
The first time I used this apple peeler, it worked great, the next time I used it, it peeled half way on the apple and then jammed and the apple split so I had to take it off and peel the rest of it. The next time I used it I had to peel all the apples myself. The machine wouldn't peel, core, or slice. 'The adjustments were still ok so I don't know why this happened. I was so disappointed. Thank You Karen

5 Bought it to peel pears
November 10, 2011
By Anthony, PA
The quality of this peeler is very good. I have a pear tree in my back yard that is loaded with pears every year. For the last few years I have been making pear pies. They turn out very good. Make them just like an apple pie, but leave out the cinnamon. Cinnamon makes them taste just like apple and you don't get the flavor of the pears. I bought this peeler to make the job easier. It works pretty well except that with the pear's odd shape it doesn't always get all of the peel off. Plus the pears have to be firm and not over ripe. It cores and slices very well. It is a big time saver. I haven't tried it on apples or potatoes yet, but I'm sure it will do a much better job on them.

5 Back to Basics apple corer
November 9, 2011
By Fred, IL
I have used older models of similar products which, unfortunately, had to be clamped to the work surface. This resulted in seriously marring the surface. This model uses suction and leaves no marks, yet, is firm enough to do an excellant job of peeling and coring.
The heavy construction should give me years of quality service.
I would recommend this product to anyone who does a lot of baking.

I have not used this apple peeler yet but am very impressed with it's construction. It is well built and the suction cup is great. I don't have to worry about clamping it onto my counter! I am looking forward to using it.

5 Love that apple corer!
October 29, 2011
By Laura, WA
This product is wonderful! Bought two, one for my daughter. It's definitely up to the task of coring and slicing bushels of apples at one time. The suction base is immovable. Looked at other (cheaper) brands and they were not as sturdy. Great value for price, definitely recommend!

Takes a while to get the blades set where it isn't too wasteful, but after they are set this product is a great time saver. It would be even better if it would peel and core without slicing

5 Great little work horse !!
October 23, 2011
By michelle, MA
This tool takes about 2 seconds or less to peel, core and slice an apple. It takes a little work to learn how to line it up properly but after that it works like a dream. Go for smaller size apples for the best fit.

5 Surprised by the quality
October 14, 2011
By NANCY, CA
I ordered it not expecting a whole lot quality wise. I was very surprised at how heavy it was and how well it worked both coring and peeling. It is similar to the one that my mother-in-law used for over 50 years to make her pies. It peels potatoes just as well as the apples plus my grandkids get a kick out of using it too!

5 Apple pealing made easy
October 10, 2011
By Robert, MO
With minor touch up to the sharpness of the cutting blades the apple peeler worked great. Always fine tune the sharpness of any of my cutting tools. Set up was easy and adjustments straight forward.

As one who likes apple pie this is a great time saver. Have not tried it on potatoes but should work great for them also. Curly fries here I come.
